El Pastor Del Rica

El Pastor Del Rica transforms an existing tenant space in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp District into an elevated yet approachable taqueria inspired by the spirit of Guadalajara and the golden era of Mexican boxing.

The design balances authenticity and sophistication, pairing bold material contrasts with crafted details that celebrate the vibrancy of Mexican culture.

  • The concept divides the restaurant into two distinct experiences: a lively, high-energy dining area centered on the open taquero kitchen, and a more relaxed, service-oriented lounge just beyond a custom metal screen that defines the bar zone. Together, these spaces create a dynamic rhythm between movement and repose, posed to create a more unique taqueria experience for downtown San Diego and beyond.
