The Boatyard Restaurant

The Boatyard Restaurant is the transformation of the former Fiddler's Green restaurant into an elevated waterfront dining destination on Shelter Island. Working in collaboration with Basile Studio, Heleo serves as Architect of Record, leading the integration of structural and building system upgrades, accessibility improvements, and regulatory coordination required to bring a new two-star Michelin chef driven restaurant, specialty bar, and hospitality experience to one of San Diego's most prominent waterfront sites.

  • The renovation and modernization of the existing 6,800 SF restaurant space involves extensive coordination between architecture, structure, MEP systems, accessibility requirements, and existing building conditions. Heleo is responsible for consultant coordination, assessment of existing conditions, historic resource considerations, exterior plaza design updates, code analysis, and integration of building system improvements while navigating the unique regulatory environment associated with the Shelter Island District.

The redesigned floor plan features a central bar, expansive indoor and outdoor dining areas, a front and back of house kitchen, private dining spaces, and support functions designed to enhance both guest experience and operational efficiency. The project includes comprehensive interior and exterior renovations, upgraded building systems, accessibility improvements, and structural modifications while maintaining compatibility with the surrounding waterfront environment and historic context.
